Annie Leibovitz is an American photographer known for her distinctive and intimate portraits of some of the world's most recognizable cultural figures. She was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1949 and later studied at the San Francisco Art Institute.

Leibovitz began photographing for Rolling Stone magazine in 1970 and became the publication's chief photographer in 1973. During this time, she developed a style of portrait photography that blended documentary observation with carefully planned visual storytelling.

Throughout her career, Leibovitz has photographed musicians, actors, artists, athletes, political figures, and other influential personalities. Her work has appeared in major publications including Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and Vogue.
